I was in the same situation: rental on 12/21/23 and statement just closed 1/19/24. The $120 Avis credit was on my statement, dated with the closing date. I called Citi and asked whether the credit applied to 2023 or 2024, and after a lengthy hold, she confirmed the credit applied to 2023.
