Noticed the 380 is off the IAD-LHR route (involuntary downgrade was my signal) for exactly one month. Is that enough time to refurbish the plane? Saw Emirates takes 16 days to do it, so seems reasonable. That particular plane could use the refurb badly - the CW seats were falling apart last time we took it.
Also worth bearing in mind, that EK can achieve the refurbishment within 16 days as it’s primarily a refresh of soft furnishings (such as trims, curtains, seat covers, carpets etc) plus a deep clean. The only big work they have to do is install Y+, as their F, J & Y seats are staying the same.
BA on the other hand, have a much bigger task to do as the whole airplane needs gutting. All the F,J, Y+ (and presumably Y) seats need to be replaced, the IFE and its cabling need to be stripped out and replaced, alongside the reconfiguration of cabin boundaries (if the new LOPA rumours are true). It’s a significantly bigger job.
