Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo

What is your Rewards Club status?
Diamond Ambassador

Detailed report here - https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35925716-post17.html

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Essential on points (four nights) and received High Floor King Premium with Extra Space on the 13th Floor (highest floor for rooms). Based on previous stay reports, I think Diamond members can expect either a Premium or Premium With Extra Space on points bookings. I inquired what the cost of a suite upgrade on a points stay would be and was quoted 32,000 JPY per night.

How are the rooms?
Room was compact but nicely laid out and was spacious enough.

How was your complimentary welcome amenity?
Received two brownies

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take?
The free minibar wasn't mentioned to me at check-in and I didn't find anything worth taking so didn't bother to ask further. There are a number of konbini in the immediate area (including a Lawson next door) where one can purchase all sort of drinks and snacks for a reasonable price.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive?
We only ate breakfast at the restaurant.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Nice recognition and room upgrades for high status members
Terrific breakfast menu and great value for Diamond amenity redemption
Staff very quick to respond to email inquiries
Friendly, multi-national staff with excellent English skills
Wine Hour drink and food options were great (note, the location of the wine hour moved around each day between the ground, 14th, and 16th floors during our stay).

Only slight negative - while our rooms were cleaned every day to satisfaction, it wasn't quite up to the high standard I experienced at other hotels on our trip.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Points redemption was a somewhat spendy 67K per night; I had a ton of points to burn so didn't really care and the room upgrade and quality of breakfast made it a good value. As far as returning, this was the second time we've stayed in Shinjuku (previous stay was at the Park Hyatt). We've decided that for future trips to Tokyo, we're going to try and stay at properties that are a little more accessible to mass transit.
