Starting outside of Spain would be better. You'll have to overnight in either LHR (cheap), JFK (cheap), or BOS (expensive: though a late night arrival and very early morning departure might encourage you to tough it out). Alternative connections at IAD and ORD, amongst others. Should be able to get 720 - 760 TPs for GBP 1700 ish, so its over GBP 2.2/TP and thus not a great TP run, unless you have other reasons for being there.
