Ooof, that is an awful, awful lot of spend to put on a card for 2X points. Is there anything better you can get for that? Not sure if you can pay in chunks or not (i.e. split payment method) but man that spend could satisfy multipy sign-up bonuses on new cards at one time, perhaps yielding you multiple
hundreds of thousands of points. Or do you at least have a Chase Sapphire Reserve that gives 3X on travel?
You could really get yourself a huge haul of points if you play this right. Honestly, the points value you could yield for satisfying multiple new card sign-up bonuses for a $40K spend would literally swamp, by orders of magnitude, the value of the onboard ship credit from Amex.
