Slightly off-topic. What insurer are you using that is covering flight delays? I have looked at several and they have very sketchy coverages for flight delays and cancellations, including the one I use right now.
The insurance claim is not for the flight delay, but for the new train ticket.
Proof as to why the original train could not be taken is why they want to see proof of the flight delay
