I'm a pretty heavy user of AA awards on JAL (would guess 20+ in the past year) and IME they always ticket within a few hours. I don't think I've ever had one take longer than a day. I'm AA EXP which I didn't think would have mattered, but reading this thread, maybe that does make a difference.
