The whole thing is odd! EXPE may fund the difference to keep the ticket active. KQ wants to cancel, but they want you to do work to get a refund. If they aren't going to provide a service then they need to give people their money. I'm sure they will get a bunch of credit card disputes since that's easier than jumping through a bunch of hoops to get a refund.
