My usual choice of inflight entertainment is a magazine or a book so not having Wi-Fi isn’t an issue.
I could not agree more. I download some Telegraph Cryptic crosswords to play with and to try to keep my brain from turning to mush. I do have my Ipad and download what I want to watch. Often they are non-English language films as often the only choice of those are Bollywood sing-and dance fests which bore me. Usually after lunch or dinner I doze off and have to restart whatever has been playing whilst I sleep. I take my headphones off for meals as I want to hear what the crew or, more unusually my husband has to say to me. The same if I am alone. Sometimes on a 787 I have met people who are most congenial and if they want to chat then so do I. I have met some fascinating people - but then I am a people person. I mostly find the IFE content to be pretty rubbish with oodles of old stuff that I have seen or would not cross the road to watch. I always have a Kindle in my handbag as well. They are far less messy than marmalade sandwiches

The thought of wifi fills me with dread in case they allow people to make voice calls. I dread it as it will cause rumpus. I can semi-understand this if you want to work and your workplace creates insecurity if you miss a single email or fail to reply within two minutes. For me one of the advantages of not having wifi is to have peace and quiet. For those who feel compelled so to do; please have a silent keyboard or one that you do not thump for the benefit of those near you as the vibrations can be very tiresome. This applies more to the CE cabin as CW is that much bigger.

I have a pet theory that the further down the back you sit, the more important the IFE is as there is so much less room for all the paraphernalia of watching a device and having drinks or a tray Just my thoughts.
