I agree with your assessment. All YQR-YYZ flights these days are Rouge and overall the experience for me has been subpar.

Are all Rouge crew AC now? I’m a little confused about that but comments unthread suggest that is the case. My main complaint with Rouge is the inconsistency. On our outbound last week we had motivated and excellent crew. Coming back to YQR, absolutely horrendous. The meal was barely heated (I didn’t have it, but my wife did and then wouldn’t eat it due to the temp). There was one drink run and then the front FA hid behind the curtain only to emerge at the 30 minutes to landing announcement, and even then a quick pick up and back behind the curtain. No greeting to anyone at boarding that I could see and a general demeanour that conveyed that they hated their job. On another recent Rouge flight the FA in the front cabin was super friendly and outgoing but way over served a guy who boarded visibly drunk. It turned out that he was a happy drunk but he could barely stand up when we got off the plane so he should have been cut off rather than served multiple doubles. I kind of chalk the inconsistency up to junior Rouge crew, but if they’re mainline FAs then that makes me wonder what the heck is going on.
