Or would this be entirely impossible because AS can't make changes to my BA ticket?

Edit: I just got an email from [email protected] and my SEA-PDX has been switched to a flight three hours later, ie it appears I've been bumped from BA2989 which was oversold and put onto AS955 (don't know if there's a BA flight number). Could I use this to leverage an itinerary change?

It's your lucky day. Call BA and say that this schedule change means it no longer makes sense for you travel to PDX at all, and ask them to just book you SEA-SFO/OAK. The change rules are a lot more flexible once the airline has changed your itinerary without you agreeing (as is the case here)
