I had a somewhat similar experience recently.
Although I had cancelled my reservation, the location issued a rental agreement based on the reservation in my name, emailed me the doc, and charged my card, the day BEFORE I was suppose to pick up the car. I never picked up the car, never went to the location as I had cancelled the reservaton. The day AFTER when I would have returned the car had I ever picked it up, I got an additional $100 charge. Ultimately by contacting the location (numerous calls) and demanding that they void the contract without further delay, I called Hertz billing. fyi, only the location can void a rental agreement
Who the heck issues a rental agreement, sends it to the renter, and charges their card, the day BEFORE the date of the reservation, before the renter ever shows up? Rhetorical.
