After completing my travel I can confirm that I was not provided with any free bag options and had to pay for them all, this was from both in person and kiosk check in. What I was provided with was priority check in and security screening access which was worth it weight in gold over the Christmas/New Years period out of LAS and DEN. Boarding Group 1 was also provided which again was a great help in getting overhead space as every flight was chaotic in this space. Over all the baggage costs for two flights/ four bags on UA was $300.00 USD in comparison to $0.00 on AA for the same amount of flights and bags with QFF Platinum (OWE) not to mention flagship lounge access in LAX & DFW. All in all comparing the fare differences against UA and AA including bags UA and airport food (no lounge access on UA) was more expensive by around $150.00 USD but UA had much better scheduling for the flights so I would call it even.
The overall experience including check in, on board and baggage collection has AA just in front.
