China Eastern - typo with surname
Have a booking with MU through Expedia. The surname field is missing a letter. The flight is within 3 days of today.
I contacted Expedia who directed me to a form where I uploaded a copy of the passport with the correct surname. I was assured a positive response within 72 hours.
After receiving an update around 30-hours in that the offline request is still pending, I contacted MU's hotline in China. Their agent confirmed that they do provide a typo correction up to 3 letters, however because one of the flights is with KL, they can't touch the ticket. I am able to select seats and request a meal no problem however. The agent said that it was up to the check-in agent to accept the passenger. She suggested cancelling/refunding but I would need to follow that up with Expedia directly (obviously).
I contacted Expedia to ask about the penalty for cancellation/refund. The first agent spent ages before saying he will call me back within 4 hours (did not happen). I reached out to Expedia once more but this time I was told: "Upon checking, your ticket was already under airline's control. With that said, only the airline can help you with your specific request. You may let them know that you already reached out to us but it was beyond our control."
Any advice/experience with this?
