Allianz Insurance and Credit

Not sure if this is the right location for this question.
We were supposed to go to Europe on Thanksgiving of 2023. My spouse ended up falling ill and landing in the hospital where diagnosed with an illness that the treating is going to take time. I called Delta when this occurred and Delta issued credits but they would expire prior to my spouses treatments and where Dr.s said not safe to travel until things are under control. Spoke Allianz/Delta who said that they would work together to ultimately remove the credits. I received payment for the trip from Allianz but the credit remains yet today.
I am looking to head out west to aid a family member with some medical issues and book a flight. The credits for myself still remain it seems. Can I use these credits or do I just let them expire? Have others experienced this as well?
