NC Quick Pass vs MA EZ-Pass
So reading a few articles, including the two from auto slash, it seems like the best of the two toll systems for rental would be NC Quick Pass or MA EZ-Pass.
MA E-Z pass has no monthly fees (is it forever couldn’t figure that out?) but costs $30 to open an account and need to keep $20 balance ($30 gets credited towards the account for toll use)
If I want to close the account I’ll have to mail the transponder back to MA.
NC quick pass is $6.69. After 24 months of inactivity, NC Quick Pass will charge a $1 monthly fee. Not much on balance other than don’t go negative.
What I couldn’t figure out is if I want to close the account for NC quick pass. Do I have to mail the transponder back or just request to close and I can keep/toss the transponder?
I plan to use it in NYC and NJ. Want the easiest solution. I don’t mind tossing away the $6.69 NC quick pass if I can easily close the account. Mailing the EZ pass back to MA seems more risky. Lost in mail or not processed correctly.
Edit: You do not need to mail back the NC Quick Pass when you cancel the account
