I am going to be in Vegas last weekend of Feb and was looking for activities outside of Vegas and especially the Strip. Checked Hoover Dam and there are guided tours offered and they are $30 per person, while you can't buy them online - have you do it on spot.
Last time I was at Hoover Dam it was when you could drive on it but never saw the engine/operating room. Does it worth to drive from Vegas and spend money on that?

It's only ~45 minutes from LV.
IIRC you still can drive/walk over the dam if you feel like it, just that there's now also the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge so that highway traffic can bypass it (there is also a parking area for those who want to walk across the bridge, which gives some views of the dam and the lake from a higher perspective)
In the 90s I did what was called the "hard hat tour" at the time (vs. the shorter one that didn't go into as much depth, both figuratively and literally) and if the current one is anything like that, I echo the sentiment that it's well worth the trip esp. if you are into engineering marvels etc.
