Haven't been to Velaa, but the Nautilus would be of similar calibre... although my impression is that it is significantly more relaxed. Velaa strikes me as a little... try hard? Don't mean that in a completely negative way, it just seems like it is more effort than I want from the Maldives... I completely agree with the poster immediately above that however that if fits what you are looking for Velaa seems incredible and is consistently top rated. As is Cheval Blanc. (We didn't go to CB either because snorkelling is a boat ride away, and we were looking for something more barefoot/casual). Milaidhoo may not be luxury enough for you... you will notice there is a distinct difference in the rates between Milaidhoo and Nautilus. I suspect Nautllus would better check off your list and provide the very top end experience that The Brando or Velaa would also provide.
