Advice needed on a first world problem.
As a newly minted DM I can gift Gold to 2 people.
Or
I can get 35k miles (and 500$, assuming I have alrady chosen 4 GUCs first)

My family has AA Platinum - and still have their Delta Reserve cards (used to get me to DM with rollover) before call to Amex to downgrade

Should I gift GM - for loss of 17.5k miles each for each year ? = 35+35 = 70k DL miles cost
or
enroll them in status match challenge - spend 25k before downgrade for each one?
spending 25k = 2500 MQD - enough to keep status till 2026
Total Cost 50k spend for 2 people instead of GM gift = 2.625c lost cash
= 1125$ for gain 50k DL miles + 70k DL miles saved in my account = 120k DL miles

I am tempted to go for it - but what says FT DL forum?
