I think that one would need to look at *A airlines with hubs close to the border between continents to maximize potential number of Intercontinental segments while minimizing time (and $$). So far, Copa and Egyptair come to mind. Seems that BOG-PTY-UIO (Quito) return gives 800 QPs for approx. 600 EUR and just over 5 hours travel time each way. Maybe there are similar opportunities doing AMM-CAI-Somewhere in Saudi Arabia.

Any other creative idea?

As noted it must be M&M airlines in order to get qualifying points. The most efficient way I have seen so far was ATH to TLV (via FRA/MUC/ZRH) for €400 in business class.
