Lines exist for a reason. There are some occasions when asking to cut in line may be appropriate. Running late for a flight that you intentionally booked as connection knowing that you were unlikely to have any chance of making it isn't one of them.
OP -- if you want to take this risk, that's on you. If you ask even one person to let you cut in line, though, then I hope that not only do you miss your flight, but you end up connecting through MRY, DEN, RAP, ORD, and DAY on an all-CRJ-200 tour.
Fair; although at that hour, the Pre line should be nearly empty, so any morality should not come into play anyway. I get it.
