But sometimes you realize the honeymoon is over, and a divorce is in order. It doesn't have to be a horrible experience. Alaska just doesn't suit my needs anymore due to my locale (drive across border and fly mostly in & out of Canada now). I just find it odd I can't input my MileagePlan number in AA anymore, which means there's something going on in the backend. The fall from glory sucks, I won't hide that. I will miss the instant Main Cabin Extra on AA.
Regardless of intent, Alaska could decide that you're no longer valuable to them as a customer and the process of responding to the chargeback despite the seemingly nominal amount may cause them to cut ties with you. I've seen a customer who said that Alaska told them they can no longer fly with them because they did a chargeback but would welcome them back if they paid the amount that was disputed. YMMV though.
