Seriously, if you have the miles it may be far easier, safer and cheaper to buy up to an H fare then use your 60,000 miles. SWU's can be used internationally on CDYBMHQVW fares. Lastly, miles are a sort of liability but not one that UA would required to pay off before a million other debtors who are all in line waiting for some payment. I think we will be at the bottom of the list?
It was a $1000+ incremental ($800 -> $1800).
I guess I need to see about finding an SWU for a reasonable "price" somehow,
or find a sympathetic gate agent (not likely these days).
I upgraded from HKG->ORD last year, and it only cost me 30K miles. Has it gone
up to 60K for 1-way upgrade? I haven't check the charts lately, but I thought
that's what it was.
