Today is the last day to transfer to Aeroplan with a 20% points bonus.

My wife and I want to go to IAD-LHR and preference is to book United. I am flying for work and she is tagging along and we're adding some days to the trip for vacation. Because my job lets me fly business class internationally, we want her in the same cabin as me.

I have been tracking award availability and have noticed that when you get within a 30-day window, the United points for business class on our flights drop from 155,000/segment to 80,000/segment when booking directly on United and only about 50,000 or 60,000 when booking through Aeroplan.

Is it too speculative to transfer to Aeroplan today when I won't be booking for another 30 days? Since it's a Star Alliance partner airline, I'm also a bit nervous about getting my points tied up with Air Canada when we don't plan to fly them (what if United just doesn't give them the partner award space that they have been giving them for the last month that I've been tracking). Am I overthinking it or should I do the transfer?
