Hello, my name is notquiteaff, and I am an amenity bag addict.

I have way too many, of different styles, from different airlines. The UA mesh bag shown upthread by halls120, yup, have a few of those (and my DW, too), and still use them for cables etc. But I also have many stuffed in closets and drawers that I will realistically never use. Some still have the “amenities” in them, others are empty. A few years ago, I disposed of a dozen or so socks, eye masks, and dried out toothpastes made in China. All my relatives have received gifts of eye shades, empty bags, or complete amenity bags.

I don’t need or want most of the stuff in amenity packs. I think it was QR a few years ago where the FA came through the cabin with a basket of stuff and let people pick what they wanted. That would be my preferred option. Maybe for a particular flight I want a toothbrush and toothpaste. Maybe just some mouthwash. Never the cheap eye shade (I carry a nice one in - of course - an old amenity bag, together with bandaids, a small pen, and some other items). Occasionally the socks. And rarely would I need a bag or box to hold the goodies. But as an addict I would probably still take it if offered. Because, you know, it might be useful to store something …
