Out of DXB-LHR today
Pretty good for once. Night and day versus ex-USA trips from East coast.
The lounge (First area) for breakfast only had a fruit platter as an option. It’s possible some other veggie options could have been vegan used but I didn’t ask (porridge, hot breakfast, mezze platter).
The main meal started with canapés. Only two. The salad was nice and fresh with (maybe) a mango dressing. The sweet potato on the other was almost frozen solid.
Canapes
The starter was a salad with a lemon dressing, bread (not the gluten free kind) and a cold platter consisting of artichoke, pepper, tomato, a solitary olive and a hummus. The hummus was very thick and smoky. This didn’t hit spot for me and salad was not enough dressing with very dry veggies. The olive oil was really good though.
Starter and side salad
Main was delicious. Chargrilled mixed veggie skewers (the aubergine was particularly good) on a bed of a tomatoey sauce and pasta. The pasta was totally odd as a flatbread, rice or couscous could have worked much better but actually the main was delicious and I could have had seconds.
Main
Crew had been playing guessing games at what the white lump. It was a coconut and rice pudding (cold) with chocolate shavings and orange slices. Not bad, my wife enjoyed it more than me but I found centre of mine a little too wet and watery in the mouth but oddly not on the plate. Pretty good though.
Desert
Then I was absolutely flummoxed to be offered a vegan cheese platter? I have NEVER had this before and loved in particular that the cheese was manufactured in U.K., shipped to UAE and only then will I get it on a BA flight. It had a similar texture to Violife and was cheddary.
A vegan cheese platter(!!)
A vegan cheese platter. On BA! I’m actually full. I can find plenty of issues with that meal but honestly I fly prepared to eat nothing usually and I’m stuffed.
Looking forward to having more reasons to visit Dubai again!
