Moderator note

For many years, the Finnair forum has been very lightly moderated. This is something that I as a member have appreciated and an approach I want to continue as moderator.
This builds on a principle of members wanting to make things right, and will in the grand schemes of things work towards making Flyertalk a friendly, helpful and collegial place.


However, over the past year or two it seems more and more threads are caught up in snarky comments on members' competence, motives or personal character. It quickly derails threads, including this one.

This is just a friendly note that the moderator team is happy to continue giving some leeway in the Finnair forum but the really basic things of being helpful and respectful, and discussing the ideas of the topic and not making it personal should "just work". If they don't, there is no need for a soft touch.

Members can help the moderator team by reporting posts, instead of getting caught up in the action. It also makes finding the cause of the derail easier, as well as the cleaning up after.
