I recently had a stay at STRAFhotel, I charged it to my Brilliant card, however I only received 2x points because the merchant was categorized as "Merchandise & Supplies". I called Amex about this and they said there is nothing they can do to correct this, but they can open a case to help recategorize this as a Bonvoy hotel in the future. As a new Brilliant cardholder I'm wondering how often this happens? and is there really nothing they can do to correct the points?
I had this happen again at the Madi Paidi Bangkok.
