Up until about 6 hours before departure there was one open first class seat, but then according to the standby list, a deadheading employee snagged it before the system upgraded me :\
Anyone know the policy about deadheads getting upgraded before passengers?
You can see from the list it's a crew of 6, probably a max team being repositioned. Pilots have F as part of their contract for positive space deadheading, but FAs do not.
He/She rightfully went in front of you, and with only 1 seat, the 2nd one remained in Y.
