A quick update from my recent stay.

Location of the hotel is perhaps not optimal. I walked from here to Zhongshuo Road but it was a trek. Fortunately, taxis through Didi were cheap and convenient. Still, I'd recommend to go for a hotel closer to the Old Town. At least I saw an Ibis Styles right on Zhongshuo Road.

The hotel is showing its age but it's a very typical older style Chinese hotel. I arrived late at night and the receptionist spoke very little English – had to prompt him separately to give me my drinks voucher and lounge access. Breakfast was provided to Plats in restaurant with no problem (lounge is not open for breakfast).

There was also no service in the lounge in English but through a translation app they explained that they serve afternoon tea between 12–18 and happy hour between 18–20. Did a bit of a sample of both (not particularly hungry) and found the selection quite disappointing. It was also not replenished and the items did not look particularly fresh.

Breakfast was quite nice with both Western and Chinese options. There's one waiter who seems to be earmarked at serving Western guests – he was engaging with everyone and was excellent!

Have to give a separate recommendation to Xiamen that had surprisingly lot to see. A great city to visit!
