Thanks to all. I have a large suitcase (been here a month!) and heavy backpack, so more concerned with ease and convenience. Lizzy or even HEX (expensive but okay if I am running late!) are great. Definitely don't want to change trains or be in a car with crowds. I'm thinking maybe stay somewhere central and taxi to Paddington and just take Lizzy.
I’m struggling to see how this would be very convenient. My view is if you’re going to cab it, you might as well get one all the way to Heathrow. Getting from the drop-off to the EL platforms at Paddington is a bit of a faff* and the trains are often quite packed. HEX would be a better option there, but again you’re paying for that.
*I’m thinking of the main taxi rank, but maybe you could get dropped at Eastbourne Terrace which would make it easier?
