It depends on one's mechanism for acquiring the miles (slapping a few CC bonuses together can take the edge off there), but your point is taken.
Having said that, I gathered that the 22nd was more a matter of "This was the cheapest day I found within some time of the start of the cruise".
Now,
that being said, at some point you're looking at "Non-stop, cheap, comfortable - pick two".
