I book with reputable OTAs when there is little or even no price difference v airlines themselves. When it comes to fares that are only available on sketchy OTAs, I perform dd and then decide if the risk is acceptable to me. The price delta isn't especially relevant because these are often trips that I wouldn't take at all were it not for the cheap OTA fare.
