Really? This is what I'm seeing for Business Class redemptions with AAdvantage miles for the OP's sister's desired date of travel:




It's certainly possible that availability will open up on the JL JFK-HND nonstops a week or two before departure date. But with a cruise to catch, I'm not sure that I would want to rely on that.
