Question: OTA v Airline site: Your price delta threshold
Throwing out a question as I saw some interesting data points on the Premium Fares Thread.
I have witnessed people choosing an OTA over booking directly with an airline for $50 difference on an already heavily discounted fare. Full disclosure, I've booked on OTAs in the past, but the price difference was in the 4 figure range. Have encountered problems with schedule changes every time. Keep swearing I won't do it again, but of course everyone has their price.
Thus here is the question I ask of the FT community:
Given the myriad of know issues dealing with OTAs for modifications, schedule changes, extra fees and the like; what is each person's threshold in dollars/Euros/Pounds/etc for choosing an OTA over directly with the Airline?
Follow up question: Contributing factors? Total ticket price? Complexity of itinerary? Airline in question?
