For the return journey I flew back into BKK from SIN (on MH via KUL) on separate ticket.
By the time of booking I did not know if online checkin with RJ would have been possible, if mobile boarding passes and / or transfer desk would be available etc. therefore I had left around 5 h connection time between the flights in order to be able to go landside at BKK in case needed for check in at desk.
I was however able to check in via RJ app again with mobile BP issued.

There are airside transit points available at BKK, something I had checked out on arrival with the inbound flight from AMM.
The transit check point was a bit confused about my mobile BP at first but after some discussion among them they let me pass pointing out to better get paper BP from transfer desk at departure level (the transit point is only for checking if you have a valid onward connection but seems not to be able to do anything else).
At transfer desk I was told that RJ flights will not be dealt with until 3 hours before the flight, therefore they could not do anything yet when I inquired. So it was lounge hopping time instead

The CX lounge was already closed at that time of day (only open until 6:30 pm) therefore I first went to QR’s instead.
Keep in mind, the QR lounge is only accessible with a first or business ticket on oneworld operated flights, shiny gold cards or alike do not help you there.
Lounge guardians a bit confused by my RJ mobile BP as it would not properly scan on their system which was eventually solved by one of the ladies who took a picture of the BP instead.
I found the QR lounge great, food and drinks are of high quality with attentive service. Unfortunately, the lounge is closed between QR flights, that means I had to leave for about 2 hours (closed between 8:40 - 10:30 pm), so I moved across the aisle to the JL Sakura lounge for that time.
JL’s lounge is quite ordinary when compared with QR’s facility, so I could not wait for the 2 hours to be over
During this time I also went back to the transfer desk again to claim paper boarding passes for both upcoming flights which were issued with no problem.
Once QR lounge re-opened, I moved back there for the remainder of the time (RJ’s departure was 12:15 am).

Since the gate was a bit further away from the lounges I started my way towards it about 1 hour before departure. By the time I arrived at the gate the priority boarding was about to start which seem to have been strictly enforced.

Onboard it was quite a junior crew and the usual arabic coffee was offered as only PDB.
Again, I was lucky as I the seat next to me stayed empty, in total 5 seats in C remained empty on this flight. Menu card was handed out with 4 different mains to chose from (forgot to take pictures again *sigh).
Since I had nice food in the QR lounge I opted for the fish course with gnocchi and vegetable which was not too bad.

Like on the inbound, crew was very rushed, not overly friendly and showed some lack in detail.
For example, no nuts and drink service prior to meal as on inbound (again, the flight was prosecco only) and I had to ask for wine with the meal, it was not offered proactively during meal distribution. My request was met with a confused look as if it was new to CC that people would drink wine with their meal (seems they did not even have bottles on the trolley and needed to go back to galley to get a glass).
I do not mind a quick meal service on a late night departure so that people can get more sleep however that crew appeared more annoyed-quick rather than engaging-quick with the service, if you know what I mean…
Again, I overslept the breakfast service, so no comment on that.

On time arrival in AMM followed by another lengthy 4.5 hour wait in their „luxurious travel experience“ Crown lounge.

CDG flight ready to depart

Flight to Madrid was on A320, service was much friendlier, more attentive and more enjoyable with buffet style food again (first round salads to chose from, second round was lamb among other things, all very tasty).

The flight itself was pretty uneventful it was a lovely sunny day so especially approaching Madrid there were some good views

We landed at Barajas T4S from where I went over to T4 IB Dalí lounge for my final leg home on IB.

Overall, the experience on RJ was ok but nothing extraordinary. I did my research prior to my trip, so I set my exceptions accordingly.
The regional fleet is very dated and worn (avoid row 1 on A320 and row 1 left side on A319 due to small leg room), however I found service much better on the mid-haul flights.
Same is true for the food.
BKK flights were disappointing to be honest, service was not impressive.
Inflight entertainment in general is not overly extensive so better bring your own.
There is no wi-fi on the B787s.
No OWE recognition on any flight (not that I care much about it, just to mention it).
Lounge at AMM nothing to write home, but I have seen worse

Would I fly them again?
If the price is right or there is a special promotion fare, I probably would, it is an additional decent way to collect longhaul TPs for BAEC.
For the regular price I think they are not really worth the detour given how much better competition is out there, especially when going to Asia.
However, that is only my single data point, and as always: YMMV
