Then again, maybe some extra days in HI is actually not that bad (checks thermometer… 5F outside right now).

In general, you can ask for original routing credit (ORC) when AS puts you on another carrier. That would give you the AS miles/EQM, and on top of that you can earn in the other airline’s program.
