Long haul around 6 times a year, typically to most continents in business, either out of Norwich or London if fares are hugely different but my preference will be Norwich.
I also have a virgin flying credit card that tends to amass points of around 30,000 a year. And the fact you can use points from virgin to book virgin holidays is quite appealing.
it seems fuel surcharges are the problem with Virgin versus KLM generally. But you tend to need more miles than KLM? And I may get more tier points from Virgin (travelling KLM as they treat each leg as a seperate journey?) I’m slightly confused as to the best option! Please help!
thanks

There is a dedicated thread for such topic =
Which ST program should I sign up for?
Many questions you asked can be answered by doing some personal research , which is what you will have to do anyway if you step into the FFP game
First get a general understanding of how FB works then youl will have a better overview
About miles its tricky to answer as both programs are dynamic, so we need to compare apples with apples = like a specific route on specific date + include the value of these miles in "real currency" into the equation
The general advice is to stick to the FFP of the airline you fly the most with , but its not a law and things arent static anymore in this business
Your pattern and what you describe , in my opinion , shows that you should stick with VS , but you can for sure investigate FB and check how things goes
