- Base fare: original ticket receipt was £174; receipt after POUG shows £304. (I am quoting the "fare" shown on the receipt.)
- POUG: £150 per person.

Is the reimbursement under Mennens therefore 75% * (£304 (base fare) - £220 (surcharges)) = £63?

Or -- If the £304 base fare and £220 surcharges is for both legs, since only one leg was downgraded is the calc then 75% * (50% * (304-220)) = £42?
That's a lot clearer, thank you. First off, it's distance pro-rata, so you are nearest the mark with your last quoted sentence.

Now the fare is complex because of the POUG. I am going to simply add that as a fare to your original fare, so no extra taxes. There are a number of complexities on this, since in fact a higher rate of APD would be due on the outbound, but no such impact in the return flgiht, the one that was affected - that's Duty free in all scenarios. But I'm forgetting that for a bit, when you buy a POUG you are never given a Taxes, Fees, Charge sub-total.. And I'm going to create a concept here of "Mennen's refundable". The components would be (in sterling)

POUG = 150
Base fare = 174 (e-ticket)
Carrier imposed charge = 200 (e-ticket, and incidentally a dummy booking for a similar fare on BA.com gives 205 for this figure if there is a Saturday night in the USA)
Total Mennens Refundable = 150+174+200 = 524
Non refundable necessary taxes = 198

So Mennens start point is 524 * 0.75 = 393, but divided in two due to only half the trip being affected = £197. Therefore if BA offers half the POUG back (£75) you are well short. I would work on the basis of £200 is due to you, per person, after all the MAD sector added some extra miles so arguably it's more than half. If BA offers say £150 quickly, then accept, if by 8 weeks they have not done so, use the above calculations in your CEDR submission.
