In the end, I booked her on one of these “surprise fare week” saver awards to FRA for 50k RT. I routed myself through FRA so the agent could force the upgrade for her on that segment. Then we paid $250 cash for her to fly Lufthansa from FRA to LIS and back. So she flies business to Europe and back for 50k miles and 80 PlusPoints.
