So I'm looking at an EU-USA Basic Economy flight with United , on the outbound the first segment is a code share on Lufthansa.

I know I am entitled to a Free bag on United as a A3 *G and the online calculator shows this correctly on the return which is fully UA metal but shows a fee on the outbound.

I believe LH charges fees but their website claims *G on intercontinental flights are also entitled to this. Could it be that the United site is miscalculated due to the short haul segment?
