Happened to me as well. Tried at least 6 times and every time, the charge would post on the account and automatically reverse. AMEX confirmed thrice that nothing was wrong with the card. Then finally, one agent suggested that I use a different browser.
Used Firefox and instead of buying TB for myself, logged into my P2's account and gifted TB funds to me using the same card. Went through both the times.
