We flew CMB - BLR on UL on 7 Jan 2024, and used the Silk Route entrance. You have to approach the reception desk inside first and they check your names against the list of people flying business class on UL on that day. Then they ask a staff member to carry your luggage in and put it through the scanner. Our experience on the whole was not the best due to inefficiency: there were at least 3 groups in front of waiting to be served by the single check in person at the single check in desk, so we had to loiter for almost 35 minutes. We could not see any refreshments, and lots of suitcases were all over the place.
A staff member also puts your luggage on the scale, and then loads it onto a trolley once the luggage tags have been affixed.
For us, the usefulness is simply the free porter service and the shortness of the walk to the check in desk.
