Personally, I find the transparency of the system to be about as transparent as CO will let it become. More transparency means more explanation = more people who don't like the rules !!
I used to work in a pax intensive industry and we had a motto: "NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF STUPID PEOPLE IN LARGE NUMBERS"....and there are a lot of FF's that are about as smart as a box of rocks

.
OH MY GOD! Some of my coworkers are going to love that motto!
The 72 hour rule was even created before the rule of " IF YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE YOUR FLIGHT PLANS OR CANCEL YOUR FLIGHT YOU MUST DO SO PRIOR TO THE DEPARTURE DATE OR THE TICKET HAS NO VALUE"
You guys have any idea in numbers how many bookings we had/have on hold or confirmed with the no show factor? People always no showed their flights,
no show=empty seat=no revenue. There are always people out there who will abuse the system to get something for free which ultimately will screw the next good guy out of his upgrade. Believe me I sit where I see it happen!
