They are probably somewhat concerned that their usually swift passage is going to be impeded by mass gilt-edged DYKWIA meltdowns. It's not unusual that normal security is faster than Fast Track and the First Wing, that's been the case for many years and has been mentioned in previous threads.

But it was made clear upthread that the queues merge, the First queue get further down the pre-scan area before that merge. At different times of the day the traditional Fast Track gets moved over to the edge of normal security, but it depends on whether there is scope to do this. Still, you're going to be through in under 10 minutes around 90% of times.
