If you aren't attached to Hyatt, there's a Courtyard in Brookline that's walking distance to a lot of the good kosher restaurants. There's also a HGI that's a little further away in Brookline proper. There's parking near those areas that isn't too hard to come by at modest rates for 2-3 hours at a time.
I would do HR Cambridge under your circumstances. It's likely to be the cheapest option on points and you can drive over the BU Bridge and be in Brookline in eight minutes or so. That would be significantly better to me than ending up downtown in the properties you mentioned - you'll be adding 20 minutes of traffic each way. If you're planning on spending lots of time in downtown Boston, that's different, but if you want to center around Brookline and Cambridge, HR Cambridge would be the easy choice for me.
Thanks so much for your input. I had looked into the Courtyard but it was almost 200,000 points for the 4 nights I needed, which just seemed outrageous to me. The Homewood Suites and HGI in Brookline was pretty close to 200,000 too.
I was focusing on the Hyatt's because they seemed to have the best value, the Marriott and Hilton properties just required too many points unless I went all the way to Framingham.
