I made the decision to cancel my Venture X (after 4 years) yesterday. Told them if they had any customer satisfaction offers, retention bonus, or fee reduction/rebate, I would keep. But they didn't. Value of card has been declining. The biggest issue is the horrible travel portal that is required to get the $300 credit.

1) Tried to make hotel reservation, but the web site crashed. Called and the agent said same thing happened to him and that I should book a different hotel (all other hotels nearby are farther away from my destination and more expense). Hotel was easy to book on hotel website or booking.com.
2) Tried a couple of other hotels for an upcoming vacation in Ireland. CapitalOne was always more expensive. They claim price match, but they don't really. Their "match" is to give a credit for a future reservation.
3) Tried to book flight from Glasgow to Dublin. Preferred flight (RyanAir) not on website. Aer Linguis was, but the cancellation/refund conditions not specified and I couldn't purchase baggage at time of purchase (which is cheapest time to buy it).

Overall the Venture X isn't worth it at all without the $300 credit and their travel site is just too much work.

And now they are cutting Hertz President Club. How much longer until they cut Priority Pass by eliminating it on authorized users and reducing number of visits of primary cardholders. Seems a safe bet they will do it within a year.

And this is the only "premium card" that doesn't have bonus categories (like 3x on travel or dining or something). It is simply 2x on everything. No longer competitive at all.
