Here’s a new batch of questions for y’all. Well, some of them are unanswered ones from the last batch.
As to the annoying practice of abandoning questions, clearly a different approach is needed. So, with this batch we’re back to the old ways – two per day max out of respect to fellow participants, just like we’ve always done. While I’d prefer people stick with questions they’ve been unable to initially answer through at least two or three tries, if you don’t, you don’t. However, if a question has been addressed and then is subsequently abandoned for more than two days, it will be permanently withdrawn from the batch of questions.
You guys are amongst the best and the brightest in this particular field of esoterica, so I’m expecting your answers to be complete and specific. No scatter shot “either/or” type responses, please. As to variants, just use common sense, i.e. please don’t just say the aircraft was solely a 737 or a DC-9. As an example, we all know with regard to Boeing equipment, airlines like Allegheny predominantly flew 727-200s and some -100s. Employing your knowledge of Allegheny’s history relative to the timeline of the question, I’d expect the correct answer to specify a 727-100 if we were dealing with a question from 1979.
4. (1992) Being stationed in the Seychelles Islands over the past two years has been a dream come true, but as the saying goes, all good things must eventually come to an end. That said, if you must leave the Seychelles, there are worse places to be reassigned than to the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. On the other hand, getting there could be a real nightmare. You are delighted then to discover that on one day a week, doing so is quite easy and convenient, involving just two flights – the first a nonstop to the connection point followed by a one stop direct flight to Honolulu. Two different aircraft types will be involved and thankfully, seats are available in the forward cabins of both aircraft – though in different classes. Please identify the airlines, the routing, the aircraft types and the classes of travel associated with each airline.
6. (1992) You’ve had a wonderful vacation in Bermuda, but unfortunately getting home to Halifax will not be as easy as the trip down to Bermuda, during which you enjoyed a nonstop flight aboard an Air Canada 767. Air Canada’s service from BDA back to YHZ operates just one day per week, and it’s not the day you need to travel. In lieu of that, you’ve found a convenient connection involving two nonstop flights, each operated by different airlines and each operating aircraft built by different manufacturers, neither of which is located on the U.S. west coast. Can you identify the two airlines, the connection point and the two aircraft types involved?
8. (1992) The moondog Special: Back in the 1960s and 70s, Boeing 707s were commonly seen all around the Pacific Islands. By 1992, while a few can still be found around the Pacific Rim, I could find only two actual Pacific islands that still enjoy scheduled 707 service. Identify those two islands.
9. (1990) The jrl767 Special Following a fun summer as a fishing guide on Kachemak Bay outside Homer, Alaska, you’re ready to move on to your new job doing the same thing at a resort outside Loreto, Mexico. You’ve found a great way to get there from Anchorage, too. Your trip will involve three airlines, each operating a different variant of the same model of aircraft. Surprisingly, Alaska Airlines is not involved in this itinerary. Please identify the three airlines, the routing and the three aircraft and their variants.
12. (1992) You would have thought that flying from Zurich to Freetown, Sierra Leone would have involved a widebodied aircraft at some point in the journey, but surprisingly, the itinerary your company travel department has booked for you involves two nonstop flights aboard two airlines, each employing narrow bodied aircraft of the same model and variant. Identify both airlines, the two aircraft specific to variant and the route to be flown.
15. (1975) Ooo La La! The big day is finally here! You and your wife are leaving the hustle and bustle (not to mention the noise and dirt) of Paris behind and moving to Fiji where you’ve been named General Manager of the new Regent of Fiji Hotel. Your trusty travel agent has found you a convenient online connection (same airline all the way through) in First Class that involves two multi-stop flights and lots of great airline food! The first flight will make three stops enroute to the connection point. Following a one hour and fifty minute layover, the second flight will make two stops enroute to Nadi. The same aircraft type will be employed on both flights. Please identify the airline, the route to be flown and the aircraft type.

17. (1990) Even on the best of days, flying from Houston (either airport) to Freeport, Bahamas can be a trying experience. Today’s itinerary, while benefitting from good connecting times, still involves three nonstop flights – each of them operated by the same model and variant of aircraft. Can you figure out which aircraft type we’re talking about, the routing (including which Houston airport) and the three airlines involved?
18. (1992) San Diego is considered amongst many to have the finest year round climate of any large North American city. Even so, that’s not enough to keep you from heading off to the beautiful blue waters and white sands of Aruba. Even better, your travel agent has found you a great deal involving First Class travel aboard two nonstop flights on two different airlines, each operating the same type of aircraft. Please identify the two airlines, the connection airport and the aircraft type.
21. (1990) When you first heard that the second portion of your business trip would involve flying from Durango, Mexico to Fairbanks, Alaska, you envisioned a nightmarish day of multiple flights and potentially missed connections. Imagine then your surprise to discover that the entire journey could be done via two airlines and just a single connection. Your first flight to the connection point will be nonstop. Your second flight will be a three-stop direct flight straight into Fairbanks. Identify both airlines involved, the routing including all three stops on the second flight, and the two aircraft types involved.

22. (1992) Following a relaxing week in Aruba, business requires you to travel to Little Rock, Arkansas. OMG! How many flights and airlines is the journey from Aruba to Little Rock going to take? Thankfully, the same travel agent who arranged your most enjoyable trip to Aruba has also worked his magic on your onward journey to Little Rock. To wit, he’s found two one stop flights aboard two airlines separated by a single connection. Each airline operates the same model of aircraft, though each is of a significantly different variant. I know it’s a lot to ask, but the correct answer must include the correct name of each airline, the enroute stops for each flight, the connection airport and finally the two aircraft, including the correct variant for each.

36. (1992) Talk about a varied and exciting routing! Your upcoming trip from Barbados to Fairbanks, Alaska will involve four flights on four airlines, each operating aircraft types built by a different manufacturer. Although your first two flights will be nonstop, your third and fourth flights will each have one enroute stop. Finally, you’ll be over-nighting at your final connection point. Thankfully, there’ll be lots of tasty airline food served along the way. Yum!
The correct answer will include each of the four airlines, the three connection airports, the relevant enroute stops and the four aircraft types. You can do it!
