The upgrade experience is going to vary greatly among Platinums, Titaniums, and Ambassadors - even in Asia. If upgrades are limited, they will likely go to Ambassadors or repeat property guests first.

I've been upgraded far more as an Ambassador than as a Hilton Diamond - though, I have far more Marriott stays than Hilton stays.
