I don't know if you can call the two passengers misconnecting a "miracle" but again, pretty damn lucky. Most flights today are very, very full. Having two seats open, right where the accident occurred would be considered "lucky" by just about anyone evaluating this incident.

Has it been reported somewhere that those seats were empty because the passengers misconnected? I am not questioning you - I just hadn't heard that and wondered how on such a full flight no one was assigned to those seats.
